Since its inception, of 11,153 feet west of Galena Peak, Big Idahoa's Wood River runs 25 miles to the southeast and small towns south of Sun Valley, Ketchum and Hailey. Then meanders through more soft, flat ground, which flows through Bellevue and Magic Reservoir. A prime fly fishing river that averages 75 feet wide, the largest wood that gives life to vast and overwhelming beautiful Blaine County, a place as the Progressive Farmer magazine recently identified as one of the best U.S. places to live.
In the spring, the wrath of large timber, fed by melting snow from the spectacular rugged peaks of the Sawtooth Range of the Rockies Mountains. Rocky path rushes through vast desert areas, and then by the full of stars, the rich land of manna from Sun Valley. In this northern part of Blaine County, the world's best ice skaters mingle with Hollywood stars and the richest of the rich, and tens of thousands of people gather every year to ski some of the finest land nationalism, downhill.
As the river flows through a valley below pine and softer snow covered slopes, runs through some small towns more beautiful and charming of the region, including Ketchum busy. Once a mining town, the sister city of Sun Valley is now home to countless condominiums, shops gifts, trendy restaurants, and a host of funky art galleries.
Ketchum past, the valley widens, and the colors fade from surprising winter spring lush green and white to yellow burning of rangelands that have been home owners for over 100 years. Many small communities have arisen between the farms and national forest lands, and those, along with the largest city in the region, Hailey, and its smaller neighbor, Bellevue, home of most of working people who keep the tourist economy of living cities in the north.
These people may have settled here decades ago to earn a living from the land, or more likely, recent transplants theyĆ're come for water sports in the Bosque Grande and other rivers, hunting, skiing, hiking, biking, and all other recreational opportunities they can imagine. However, while not ultra-rich as its northern neighbors, its proximity to Sun Valley countless, demanding million dollar properties means that Hailey / Bellevue houses cost twice the national average. Moreover, residents in County Blaine earn more on average than the rest of the country and its schools are among the best in Idaho. Despite the high cost of living, the locals know that the money flows down the valley as fast as the big wooden.
