NZ South Island Holiday questions …?

We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children 12 and 14), flying in / out of Dunedin 28 August to 9 September. Probably hiring a car, staying in motels and stop when we feel like it, but as cheap as possible. Children wishing to ski for a few days – would cheaper to stay in Wanaka or Mt Hutt will be better – I heard that in Queenstown in quite expensive (beginners). Anyone who do? Do we have enough time to see much? All advice very welcome! We must also hire a 4WD, because it is winter and the roads can be unreliable? Ta.

HI It seems you do not have hands full with your boys. Best bet is hiring a 4WD as you are driving on one of the coldest parts of New Zealand and plan to go to the ski slopes. For the snow and ski slopes and reports http://www.snow.co.nz will never have been at Mt Hutt, but http://www.lakewanaka.co Wanaka is lovely. Nz / index.cfm / Home Queenstown Aspen has been described as expensive, but the city boutique. The accommodation is high and difficult to achieve if it were not booked in advance. Queenstown – Milford Sounds is a must, http://www.fiordland.org.nz – And talk to their kids make a leap of AJ Hackett Bungy – http://www.ajhackett.co.nz! Enjoy your trip
