Skiing Kids

Aspen, Grindelwald, St Moritz, Davos …. Hemel Hempstead! What do all of the above names have in common? Well, you can ski all year in all of them …. except the first four! Okay, Hemel never going to have the same magical association St. Moritz, but has increased in the rarefied atmosphere to be a serious ski through a new development called The Snow Center.
On leaving the A41 from Hemel Hempstead, the city spreads along the valley the Gade below. Embracing the opposite side is a very large silver building that glows in the sunlight and rather dominates the skyline. It's very modern looking, but not what Prince Charles might describe as "a monstrous carbuncle".
In fact, the snow Center has done its best to create a green building where snow lovers can play all year. The roof surface itself is a living plant that retains water and changes color as the seasons change and new plants bloom and die according to their life cycle.
The statistics are impressive: a 160 meter long slope, a public kindergarten 100 meters, 30 meters width – one and a half football parks running down a slope and you get an idea of the magnitude of the undertaking. And then there's the snow …. is the actual freezing of-the-bum fresh snow over the fees generated by snow every night and guaranteed to give you a taste of the Alps if you're a beginner to become familiar with the basics or an experienced skier / snowboarder brushing up on their skills.
The Center is the proud boast of snow is that it is "the best snow on this side of Alpine … and he may be right. The aim of the Center for Snow was to create the best indoor track in the UK and after passing through the front door, where they are greeted by a lady very friendly and efficient call Gail, we are confident that you will give them a massive thumbs up. The entire complex is spacious and bright with a really cool feeling to it. The designers have succeeded in bringing the outdoors inside the help of a few shards of fresh air and trees through the windows of the top bar.
Without But not only will you find the ideal conditions of snow, every day, but after a hard day on the slopes you can enjoy traditional après snow on the edge, the cafe-bar with height (not that is not a misprint!).
The EDGE offers a variety of refreshments and snacks Coast Coffee pastries breakfast, a quick snack or a main meal and, of course Mulled wine and a full bar. EDGE can also provide a range of hot and cold buffet serving his measure. It's great fun to be with a view to the tracks in a very comfortable environment and we are sure that local businesses once they discover their premises of The Edge will become in place to attract customers.
On the day I visited the place was really full of school groups that come and clubs for children training the nursery slopes moms and dads, watching proudly from the coffee shop display windows.
And if you need some retail therapy Snow Rock after the number of snow sports retailer, will be offering the best winter clothing, equipment and accessories fitted you out on the slopes. We also stock an impressive range of bikes and related cycling equipment and clothing.
Snow Center is intended to be a major tourist attraction Hemel area in the coming years, and David Surrey, the visionary behind this wonderful facility, can justifiably be proud of his baby (which costs a jaw drop £ 23 million for construction).
Whether you're a beginner or experienced, disabled or able-bodied, young or old, there's something here for everyone …. and that's snow joke.
