I’m new to Atlanta and I love the mountains, skiing and camping. How far away am I from the closest mountains?

I’ll actually be living in Alpharetta. What are the best places to go for my outdoor inclinations and how far?

4-5 hours to the smokies

Go up I -75 to Chattanooga and then onto Knoxville ….
then merge into I- 40 East and look for the exit which is the same as the University of Tennessee just before downtown Knoxville
on whats I-75 and I-40 combined….45 min more and your in the heart of the apalachians/smokies. There are signs on where to exit the interstate and head toward the mountains
