Skate Skiing

Any advise about skate skiing?

I’ve been envying the skate skiers whizzing by as I slog along on my telemark skies. Any advise about equipment and do I really need any kind of lessons?

The biggests issue with skate skiing is weight. I bet you can skate a little bit on your tele skis, but they’re probably really heavy and you’d get tired quick. A nordic setup is a LOT lighter than any tele setup. A good basic setup would be low level racing equipment. Anything lower is not going to be much fun.
As for lessons, if you have downhill/telemark experience it shouldn’t be too hard to learn skate skiing. But the equipment change is dramatic, as skate skis are really skinny.
