Wider is better. Anything you achieved through a glade run that has already been skied by anyone else. You can do that with a system of rental skis. Getting through the cool stuff will have a different animal. From Karhu, G3, Black Diamond specialize in ski touring, is my opinion that are much better than skis made by the companies that also make the races and in general all mountain skis. For more snow, I like the G3 Reverend and Karhu Jak. The mountain K2. Baker is not a ski slope not bad and many people use. I find the Volkl and Atomic "ski trip" too heavy.
