snowboard vs skiing

"Snowboarding in Europe" is almost synonymous with "blue skies and great snow", the only difficult part about planning a trip to European runways is deciding where to go. There are many factors to consider when making this decision, including the possibility of renting a car or book a transfer, is easy recourse to family / nightlife Après Ski; encyclopedia attended or attended and more. Hopefully by the time it has reduced the mitigating factors that you'll stay with few resorts to choose from.

Here's a quick comparison of two of my vacation:

Chamonix:
9 people
He hired a van
Self-catering chalet
Less than an hour from Geneva Airport

Arabba, Dolomites:
4 people
Airport transfer (coach)
Apartotel Condo
3 + hours from the airport

The biggest drawback for me with respect Chamonix is a mountain that are not interconnected. Every day we have to decide the area who wanted to hold, it was not easy with nine people at different levels, and then packed the van and head to the tip selected.

I guess we made our own failure to achieve a nine-person vehicle, because all the world in a different time. Some people wanted to be on the hill of the first chair, while others had croissants and coffee at 10 am and had not yet reached to the tracks yet.

This brings me to the second disadvantage of Chamonix, which is that there seems to be very slope side accommodations. I saw very little evidence of ski-in, ski-out Accessibility. The cost of slope-side lodging would probably not have been in our budget, but this would have resolved the issue of at least getting the first attempt, while everyone was still wiping the sleep from her eyes. To resolve this, a couple of us became very familiar with the bus system.

On the positive side, Chamonix is a charming town with plenty of activities for all ages. After riding for six days in a row my husband and I went in search a break of the hill. We fill our day with a meal of fondue fun I Monchu followed by a couple of hours in Chamonix Sud bowling and arcade game. The following decided to return to our hostel along a path through the forest and past a charming landscape. He even greet some horses and their owners on the road all the time taking pictures of our big day. For après-ski, is the fantastic title = "Micro Brasserie Chamonix"> Micro Brasserie where you can stop in a mug of beer and some light snacks or things about yourself like I did nachos, YUM! We also enjoyed an Italian meal at Casa Valerio on our last night – delizioso!

Instead, we had a car in Arabba part because our presentation was outstanding. Every morning just across the Street, strap on our forums and down the elevator to start the day. In the Dolomites, skiing and riding is endless, like so many peaks and villages are all interconnected. Every day we have to take a lift after another with their eyes constantly looking for a good race for fresh or powdered. In fact, they never paid much attention to where we were until late afternoon when we would have to make their way back to the apartment. Each village has restaurants, pubs, nice and there are also wide variety of restaurants slope. Do not forget to participate in the tradition of the afternoon every day of Mulled wine or mulled wine.

There are two grocery stores in the small town of Arabba. We made a tent of his arrival and cooked for us at night. Two nights we went out for dinner one night we went for a nice Italian meal, and the second was fantastic mixed grill dishes. Both restaurants were walking down the hall, but downhill, so we had a nice little workout climbing after dinner, which helped solve our food.

There are pubs couple in Arabba, one that we visited and had some delicious pizza. Overall however, there is very little happens in this sleepy village and most nights we spent playing cards or watching a movie on the laptop, which is not bad after a full day on the hill.

Ideally, I'd like a combination of these two ski areas with the most important to be able to get multiple peaks or areas without getting off the board. A little night life is good for the position of the hill pitcher of beer and snacks before heading back to hotel for a shower and prepare for dinner. Also, any city with a bowling alley is fine by me. Anyway, I'm glad visited both places and had lots of snow and great walks, every time, which is really what matters most.
